Small Groups

Small groups enable a deepening of relationships both with each other and with God that cannot be found merely by attending Sunday services. Small groups offer social connections and opportunities for spiritual growth wherever you're at on your faith journey. Browse below for our current small group list. We will be looking to increase our provision over the next year.

Men’s Ministry
Our men's ministry is coordinated by Jason Rickett. We don't have a name yet, even though we've been running the group for over 4 years!
At present we meet every 2nd Tuesday evening at 7:30pm. We usually start with a fun activity which, when in-person, consisted of darts, quizzes, golf and more! This is followed by a topical discussion or Bible study led by Jason or another group member.
We are aligned with Christian Vision for Men (CVM) and a group usually attends 'The Gathering' every June in a field near Swindon. Visit their website here.
Women’s Ministry
Grace is the women's ministry for our church and is led by Alison Carmichael. The group meets every 1st and 3rd Tuesday at 7:30pm on Zoom.
Sessions are a mix of social and spiritual. At the moment the group are working through the women's study guide called 'Free to Be'.
During the year the women's group arrange trips to Elim's 'Aspire' events when they are on in our region.
Young Adults
CYAN stands for Christian Young Adults Network. It is a monthly meeting for social and spiritual events designed to connect our young adults across many different church together.

Let's Sing Hymns
Let's Sing Hymns is a daytime service which takes place every 3rd Wednesday in the church building at 2pm.
It is for those who enjoy more traditonal hymns and choruses and it includes a short talk, often from Pastor Lee.
Following the session people are invited to enjoy an afternoon tea free of charge in Hope Cafe.
Open Church Discipleship

While many church run mixed small groups, we choose as a church to have monthly discipleship focus on a Sunday and midweek following for the whole church. On the Sunday we will hear a message on the current discipleship series and then the following Wednesday we have Open Church.

Starting at 6:45pm we gather for food together. This is open to anyone, inlcuding families who may not be able to stick around for the discussions later, but would like to join in with the fellowship.

After dinner together we gather for a short recap of the Sunday teaching focus and then we break into 3 or 4 small groups across the building to talk through some questions around that week's focus.

This is a great opportunity for new people to the church to get to know others in a friendly setting.

Stepping Forward

Stepping Forward is an initiative led by Pastor Lee and Pastor Phil Hannam, from Life Church Chelmsford, to help cultivate leaders in Essex.

If you are considering taking more responsibility than you have in what you're doing now, or stepping into a serving or leadership role in your local church or your workplace, this monthly course over a 2 year period will help equip you on your journey.

Starting on 20th february 2022, the course will run every 3rd Sunday (With exceptions for Easter) at Life Church Chelmsford from 7-9pm.

It is free of charge but you need to register to attend by filling in the form here
